The Visible Curb Process
Step 1: Creating Your Design
We use custom computer-designed, single-use stencils to paint your design. With your chosen font and artwork, we create and print stencils for your curb. We don’t use cheap cardboard templates, which often result in terrible long-term results, like poor adhesion, bleeding, or paint overspray or underspray.
Step 2: Preparing Your Curb
We start by removing any existing paint or numbers from the curb. We then surface-prep the curb for better quality and long-term paint adhesion. Most curbs have a rough, irregular finish, which, if left untouched, can lead to poor aesthetics and longevity. Our surface prep helps ensure the numbers and designs are sharp, neat, and durable.
Step 3: Sealing Your Curb
Next, we apply a special sealant and primer to the concrete. This step is important because concrete is porous and can absorb moisture, which is what causes most amateur curb paint jobs to fail. Sealing the curb prevents moisture from soaking in and blocks the high pH levels (between 8.5-13 pH) of the concrete, helping the paint last longer.
Step 4: Painting Your Curb
For standard colors, we use high-quality paints designed specifically for curbs or parking lots. These paints stick to the curb better and last longer. For custom colors, we use “graffiti-grade” paints that provide long-lasting durability.
Step 5: Layering Your Curd For Complex Designs
For more complex designs, we apply multiple layers of paint and use multiple stencils to create the perfect look. Each layer ensures the colors are vibrant and the design is clear.
Step 6: UV Protection For Your Curb
Once the painting is done, we finish by spraying a UV protectant over the design. This helps protect the paint from the harsh Texas sun, keeping the colors bright and helping the paint last longer.
